The Third Day
Day 3
Old Testament, Pre-Flood

God gathers the waters to let dry land appear and commands the earth to sprout vegetation. This brings forth every kind of seed-bearing plant and fruit-yielding tree across the world.

David and Goliath
1020 BC
Old Testament, Kingdom Era (Judges and Kings)

Armed only with a sling and a stone, David defeats a giant Philistine warrior who had terrified the Israelite army. His victory proves that "the battle is the Lord's" regardless of the odds.

The Birth of Jesus
5 BC (A)
New Testament, Gospels / Jesus Christ's Ministry

Because there was no room in the inn, Mary gives birth to Jesus in a stable in Bethlehem and lays Him in a manger.

The Resurrection
30 AD (P)
New Testament, Gospels / Jesus Christ's Ministry

On the third day, the tomb is empty! An angel tells the women that Jesus has risen, and He soon appears to them alive.

Two Ways to Play

Whether you want a competitive game night or a collaborative family study, we have you covered.

1. Genesis to Revelation

Standard Competitive
  • A

Setup: Shuffle the deck. Deal one card to each player, placed date-side up in front of them to start their individual timeline. Place the remaining deck picture-side up in front of the oldest player (who goes first). Each player reads the back of their starting card aloud to introduce their timeline event.

  • B

Read: The player to your right (the reader) draws a card. They read only the title and event description aloud, then hand it picture-side up to you (the guessing player). The reader does not read the scripture reference or the date.

  • C

Guess: Decide where the drawn card fits chronologically within your timeline (Before your existing cards, After your existing cards, or Between two cards).

  • D

Verify: Without showing the date to other players, the reader checks the card. If you are correct, add the card to your timeline! If incorrect, the opportunity to guess passes clockwise around the table; if everyone guesses incorrectly, the reader keeps the card.

2. Team Timeline

Co-operative Learning
  • A

Setup: Place one starting card face-up in the center of the table. Set a timer for 15 minutes. The team works together to build a single shared timeline.

  • B

Read: One player draws a card and reads the title and description to the group. Because they can see the date, they act as the reader and cannot guess this round.

  • C

Discuss & Place: The team discusses the event, sharing what they remember from the Bible, and agrees together where it belongs in the shared timeline.

  • D

Check: Verify the date. If correct, add the card to the timeline. If incorrect, place it in the discard pile and continue with a new reader.

Frequently Asked Questions

Not at all! Genesis to Revelation is a learning tool as much as a game. Instead of memorizing exact dates, you can use the card descriptions, chronological context clues, and historical relationships (like knowing Jesus lived after Moses, or that the Exile happened after King David) to figure out where an event fits.

No, they are well-researched approximations based on conservative biblical timelines. For the purposes of this game, understanding the sequential order of biblical history is far more important than memorizing exact calendar years.

Genesis to Revelation focuses on primary historical milestones. While we couldn't fit every story or prophecy onto 191 cards, we've carefully selected the major events to give you a comprehensive overview from Creation all the way to the Early Church.
